Earlier today, I saw on social media that the U.S. Department of Justice has finally filed its long-awaited statement on the NAR Settlement. So much of the speculation in recent months has been focused on the question of what, if anything, the DOJ would do.

Some folks thought the DOJ would come in and wreck shop; I thought the DOJ would do nothing of the sort.

At the same time, if you’ve been reading Notorious ROB for a while, you know that I believe that the DOJ/FTC will not rest until NAR is destroyed. Search this blog for “NAR delenda est” for a list of dispatches where I go into that. You also know that the war between NAR and the United States goes back a hundred years, and the DOJ is not likely to let this golden opportunity pass if it can possibly help it.

Which is why the very brief Statement of Interest from the DOJ was so interesting. Though the Statement it is widely available on the internet, I’ll embed it here for convenience:

For those unable or unwilling to dig in deeper, I’ll give you the top line takeaway:

The DOJ is coming for NAR. Only total surrender or total regime change can stop it.

Let’s get into it.
